Session content is strictly confidential. The fact that you have sought help from a psychologist will not appear on your work or medical records unless you are referred by your employer or your GP or via a private health scheme/insurance claim. Normally the actual detailed content of the sessions will remain private, and for my use only as an aide memoire. However, I may need to break this confidentiality in exceptional circumstances. For example, if I thought you were at risk of harm to yourself or others, if you told me about any crime, or if you signed a request form requesting your notes. There may be some occasions when it might be helpful to speak to your GP, but I would always discuss this with you and seek your consent first.
I write notes in our sessions and keep them to remind me of what we have discussed, and to keep a note of your progress. These are kept in a locked cabinet in my home office and shredded at the end of our therapy sessions. I care for your personal data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) legislation of May 2018, and am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO). You can find more information on this in my document Protecting your Personal Data: Therapy.
Lateness and session times
If you arrive late for your session the session will still end at the same time. If you arrive early please introduce yourself to the receptionist, wait in the waiting area and I will come and collect you. This ensures that I am completely ready for you.
If you need to change or cancel an appointment at least 24 hours notice is required. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at half the session rate as the slot cannot be re-allocated and to cover rent and admin costs. Health insurance/insurance clients may forfeit a session because of cancellations.
You are responsible for your appointments, if you miss, or cancel your appointment it is up to you to contact me to re-book. If you do not contact me within 2 weeks (unless we have agreed otherwise), I will presume that you do not want to continue with the therapy and will discharge you.
Can be made by cash, cheque, or BACS. Payment is due at your appointment. If you have private medical health insurance and chose to use this to pay for your therapy then payments are dealt with directly between myself and your provider. If a block of sessions (6 or more) is paid for upfront then a discount will apply.
I cannot guarantee that I will cure you, so a cure or money back guarantee does not apply. However, we will discuss your progress at every session, and address any difficulties early.
No refunds are payable for booked but unattended sessions with less than 24 hours notice. If you have paid upfront for a course of treatment and have not taken all your prepaid sessions then the unused sessions can be refunded.
